Pet Proof Window Coverings

I have clients asking all the time for “pet proof” window treatments. In the past, I have always said, there is not a blind or shade as well as draperies that are “pet proof.” However, there is an option for my pet lovers, shutters. Shutters are not 100% pet proof. If you have found your pet chewing on wood, shutters would not be a good option. But, shutters are the best “pet proof” option out there because of the durability of the product.

Here is a list of a few types of shutters that we recommend for your home with pets:

  1. Faux wood shutters
  2. Composite wood shutters
  3. 100% Brass wood shutters

I have walked into my bathroom and seen Gracie sitting on the counter looking at the window. I can see her trying to figure out a way to the window. Gracie spends a lot of time staring at the window from both the ground and counter. But, she has yet to figure a way to get up to the window because we have a cafe shutter blocking her way.
